The world remembers his gold.
There is more to the story.
BEYOND THE LEGEND
In 1324, Mansa Musa, emperor of Mali, set out across the Sahara on a pilgrimage to Mecca. His extraordinary wealth drew the attention of the world he encountered.
But his journey was more than a display of riches. It was a story of power and generosity, diplomacy and hardship — and of the enduring value of knowledge.

THE HEART OF THE STORY
BEHIND THE FILM
The Weight of Gold is an independent, AI-assisted historical short film written, directed and produced by Philip Drammeh.
Drawing on original storytelling, historical research, cinematic visual generation, music and sound design, the project explores what emerging filmmaking tools can make possible — without losing sight of the people and history at its center.
The completed film is planned at approximately 20–25 minutes. Historical events and dramatized elements will be distinguished as the production develops.
